Urban Design is the design of towns and cities, streets and spaces. It is the collaborative efforts of Urban Designers that shape the physical setting for life in cities, towns and villages.  Once the designs are finalised, the Town Planning process manages the development of land and buildings to save what is best of our heritage and improve the infrastructure we depend on for day-to-day life.

Our client is an award winning consultancy who specialise in landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning and renewable energy. They are currently looking to recruit an experienced Urban Designer with substantial design experience for their London studio to lead a variety of projects. The successful candidate will work alongside town planners, architects, landscape architects and other professionals on a wide variety of exciting projects. They are currently looking for experienced Senior Urban Designer to join the successful teams based in the West Midlands. The successful candidates will be responsible for the preparation and overseeing of conceptual urban design and planning work, feasibility studies, master planning, development briefs and design strategies for residential and mixed use schemes for developers and private clients. You will be expected to manage projects in respect of timescales, client/consultant liaison and meeting with local authorities and project teams as requested. Our client is a large environmental, planning and landscape consultancy with a proven track record of preparing, designing and executing a wide range of projects that balance development needs and environmental protection for both the public and private sectors. They are now seeking a Senior Town Planner to assist their team in the West Midlands. As a Senior Town Planner you will be organising various teams, assisting with the preparation and provision of consent applications, assembling Environmental Statements, project management, desk studies, research and report writing. You will also be liaising with clients and building relationships with new clients. The successful candidate must have experience in the planning and consents process with a bachelor's degree in town planning and a member of the RTPI. Must have a sound knowledge and experience of the UK planning system and experience liaising with planning authorities. Must hold a full driving licence with access to a vehicle. As a Senior Town Planner work will include planning applications, masterplans, environmental impact assessments and providing strategic planning advice for public and private sector clients. The successful candidate must have a strong technical background in statutory planning work and confident written and verbal communication to deliver planning advice that assists with strategy development, decision-making and problem solving. Must be able to lead complex negotiations with clients, local planning authorities, stakeholders and community groups in order to gain planning permissions. Our client is a large environmental consultancy that offers professional advice and technical support services on a wide range of environmental disciplines, covering such diverse areas as town planning, waste management, transport planning, and impact assessment, engineering design and asset, resource and risk management issues. Due to continued expansion they are now looking to recruit a Senior Planner to be based in their Bristol office. The role will involve a comprehensive range of town planning projects, many of which include EIA development. Specific responsibilities will include planning law and development control, EIA, business development, client/team management and working to demanding deadlines. Applicants must possess an accredited planning or surveying degree/diploma and be a full member of either the RTPI or RICS. Experience gained in either the public or private sector is essential along with proven business development skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to operate in a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines is also required.
