The successful candidate will be required to undertake field surveys, ecological impact assessments and mitigation planning for various projects. Other duties will include designing mitigation strategies for minimising any impacts on habitats and species of conservation importance and conducting protected species work.
Applicants will have an appropriate amount of post-graduate experience within a consultancy environment which should have involved ecological field surveys, EIA, mitigation design, ecological restoration and preparation of habitat management plans. Experience of stand-alone ecological reports and knowledge of current legislation is also required along with a good all round ecological ability and competent botanical identification skills. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of protected species work and a protected species licence would be an advantage.

The Consultant Ecologist will join a busy and dynamic team spread across Surrey.
You will be responsible for a range of tasks associated with the delivery of project work including but not limited to the following:
Compilation of desk studies and literature reviews;
Basic Phase 1 Habitat surveying;
Protected Species surveying (incl. bats, badger, otter, water vole etc.);
Preparation of survey reports;
Contribution to Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs);

Supporting office management and administrative tasks.
You will be confident and comfortable working as part of a team or on your own, sometimes on remote sites.
You will have a relevant under/postgraduate degree in ecology or a related discipline and will hold at least one protected species licence. Ideally you will have a minimum of three years Ecology Consultancy experience carrying out Phase 1 Habitat Survey and protected species surveying. You will be a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and familiar with its Code of Professional Conduct and Competency Framework. A full driving licence is required and ideally some knowledge of GIS would be advantageous.

They are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the Asbestos industry with substantial experience of working on their own. This is a home based role and would suit someone currently living in Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or Hertfordshire areas with easy access to London and the motorway network.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients in the property management sector, will have surveyed a wide range of properties including industrial and commercial as well as residential and will have experience of pre-demolition surveys. Candidates must have the P402 as a minimum qualification, and those possessing S301/W504/CCP will merit consideration for the higher end of the salary range.
