Our Client is an Ecology Consultancy who provide a professional consultancy service across the UK. They are now looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their team in Sussex.

The successful candidate will be involved with undertaking and managing ecological impact assessment work in a range of sectors, undertaking surveys, liaising with clients, as well as managing and mentoring other team members, including consultants and graduates.

Candidates should have three years' experience of ecology consultancy. This will include experience of ecological impact assessments in relation to residential, mixed-use and renewable energy schemes.

Your skills and qualifications should include:

Excellent academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences
Experience of managing projects on time and to budget
Excellent report writing skills
Excellent survey skills (extended Phase I, plus a specialism in either botany or a protected species)
Excellent understanding of legislative and planning policy framework as it relates to ecology and nature conservation

Our client is an independent Multidisciplinary Consultancy who work on projects across the UK.They are now looking to recruit an Experienced Senior Ecologist to work from their office in Sussex. As a Senior Ecologist the role will require you to plan, prepare for, supervise and where appropriate carry out a range of ecological surveys, including habitat survey across a range of lowland and upland habitats as well as protected species surveys. Data analysis, coordination of sub-consultants, quality assurance and high quality reporting are also integral to this role. You will have the opportunity to get involved in all stages of project development, seeing it through from tendering through to completion. Essential requirements for the successful Senior Ecologist: A relevant first degree and possibly a post-graduate qualification. Strong botany skills and experience of Phase 1 Habitat and NVC surveys. Protected species survey licence (bat licence is an advantage) Proven project management experience Experience in Ecological Impact Assessments, research reports and EPS licences. Full driving licence is required Full membership of CIEEM is desirable but not essential. Operate within a wide range of projects sectors including energy, water, transport, residential and mixed use schemes Providing ecological survey results to projects and advising clients on how to avoid ecological impacts and develop/execute mitigation measures to minimise effects on habitats and protected species Work with other professionals eg, landscape architects or hydrologists, to achieve successful integrated outcomes for clients GIS mapping and analysis The successful candidate will have: A related degree Extensive experience in a range of ecological surveys - including habitat surveys, protected species surveys and ornithological surveys Hold at least one protected Species licence Experience of managing ecological survey programmes and in managing the associated reporting work streams Knowledge of the Habitat Regulations and their application Good report writing skills - particularly with ecology sections of EIA are essential.
