Senior Building Surveyor with extensive Party Wall knowledge

RICS Chartered Surveyors based in North London have a vacancy for a Senior Building Surveyor able to lead a team with involvement in business development. You must have thorough knowledge of party wall and be comfortable working with all levels within the company.

The successful candidate will have a commercial background with an understanding of what it takes to establish and sustain good relationships with various client types mainly residential maintenance, refurbishment and insurance reinstatement projects.

You will ideally be a MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor but if you have over 5 years relevant experience but not yet chartered your application will be considered.

To be successful in your application you will meet the following criteria:

> Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, CRM, project management tools and AutoCAD with a working knowledge of Health and Safety, CDM roles and asbestos legislation
> Leading from the front as the named Party Wall Surveyor agreeing and issuing awards.
> Coordinating the allocation and timely completion of all Party Wall projects across the team
> Overseeing new business
> Maintaining relationships with clients
> Working with the Managing Director developing new relationships
> Work as part of the wider team on a range of minor and major works projects

> Project preparation and feasibility assessments, condition and building surveys, defects diagnosis, planned maintenance surveys, insurance claim validation works, cost appraisal, budget reports, contract specifications, building works specification and design, advise on appropriate repairs and compile detailed work scopes/tenders.

New vacancy has come in for a MRICS qualified Building Surveyor, with residential property and commercial buildings experience, to join a South East London based Consultancy. You will have full autonomy over your portfolio with genuine opportunities to progress with the company. It is essential you have a full driving licence and preferably your own car, as there will be travel required across Southeast London and the home counties You will be offered a competitive salary which will be within the range of £40k to £60k depending on experience and the package agreed. Hours will be 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.
You will ideally be a qualified and experienced Building Surveyor with previous experience in the construction sector and should have appropriate construction knowledge, with membership of a relevant professional institution. This is a home based position and the majority of travel will be within London and the South East. Candidates should have an understanding of Building Regulations and good building practice as well as constructional design and current construction methods and legislation. To be successful in your application you must be IT proficient and able to co-ordinate projects and have the ability to build on existing customer relationships as well as develop new ones. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, local knowledge and contacts and a confident approach to dealing with situations which require careful handling and diplomacy. The post requires strong organisational skills and the confidence to liaise with Project & Design Teams, Principal Contractors, Residents, Clients, Consultants, Site Staff and other staff on all levels. The candidate will be literate, numerate and self-motivated, able to manage and plan workload and add value to the Company in developing Client and Consultant relationships and new business opportunities. A relevant qualification (BEng, BSc, HND, HNC, BTEC or equivalent) is preferred as well as an eagerness to work towards a formal professional qualification / membership (CIOB, RICS, MIStructE, MICE, CEng, ICWCI, etc). Alternatively, a significant and proven experience of the physical built environment and construction processes may be acceptable for this role. Must have a current CSCS Card. An excellent understanding of the Building Regulations, building technologies and legislation, and industry practices together with the ability to interpret and apply technical theory and Building Regulations to practical situations. Previous experience and proven track record in similar role + good understanding of Health & Safety requirements in construction. Ambitious, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual able to work independently and unsupervised. This role will require a confident individual who has the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of personalities and professional bodies during projects. IT literate and competent, experienced user of general Microsoft Office software. Must have a confident attitude towards the use of technology. Integrate well as a team member and generally possess a flexible attitude to work. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload with flexibility to multi-task. Excellent presentation, report writing and communication skills. Smart appearance and a desire to develop personally along with the Company.
