Opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary building consultancy and architecture practice as part of a hardworking and professional team with an excellent reputation in the industry.

The position is for a Quality Inspector working as part of the Employers Agent team to oversee the completing and changeover of residential housing projects.

The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of construction technology including a wider understanding of the building industry including the materials used, construction processes as well as working practices and methods.

Responsibilities of this role includes:

> Undertaking snagging / pre-handover inspections of completed works.
> Undertaking 'end of defects period' inspections in occupied properties
> Ad-hoc site inspections, including preparation of typed reports
> Occasional attendance at meetings
> Management of own diary and appointments
> Dealing with emails and phone calls (where necessary).
> Maintaining electronic records of reports, site photographs, certifications, documents received and the like.

Please note that this is not a C.O.W position, the primary focus is on pre-handover inspections at completion.

New vacancy has come in for a MRICS qualified Building Surveyor, with residential property and commercial buildings experience, to join a South East London based Consultancy. You will have full autonomy over your portfolio with genuine opportunities to progress with the company. " Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works " Advise clients on schemes and projects and determine requirements " Advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings " Deal with planning applications and advise on property legislation and building regulations. " Organise documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes " Instruct on the preservation/conservation of historic buildings The ideal person will have excellent technical knowledge and be competent to work alone. It is essential you have a full driving licence and preferably your own car, as there will be travel required across Southeast London and the home counties You will be offered a competitive salary which will be within the range of £40k to £60k depending on experience and the package agreed. Hours will be 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.
You will ideally be a qualified and experienced Building Surveyor with previous experience in the construction sector and should have appropriate construction knowledge, with membership of a relevant professional institution. This is a home based position and the majority of travel will be within London and the South East. Candidates should have an understanding of Building Regulations and good building practice as well as constructional design and current construction methods and legislation. To be successful in your application you must be IT proficient and able to co-ordinate projects and have the ability to build on existing customer relationships as well as develop new ones. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, local knowledge and contacts and a confident approach to dealing with situations which require careful handling and diplomacy. The post requires strong organisational skills and the confidence to liaise with Project & Design Teams, Principal Contractors, Residents, Clients, Consultants, Site Staff and other staff on all levels. The candidate will be literate, numerate and self-motivated, able to manage and plan workload and add value to the Company in developing Client and Consultant relationships and new business opportunities. A relevant qualification (BEng, BSc, HND, HNC, BTEC or equivalent) is preferred as well as an eagerness to work towards a formal professional qualification / membership (CIOB, RICS, MIStructE, MICE, CEng, ICWCI, etc). Alternatively, a significant and proven experience of the physical built environment and construction processes may be acceptable for this role. Must have a current CSCS Card. An excellent understanding of the Building Regulations, building technologies and legislation, and industry practices together with the ability to interpret and apply technical theory and Building Regulations to practical situations. Previous experience and proven track record in similar role + good understanding of Health & Safety requirements in construction. Ambitious, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual able to work independently and unsupervised. This role will require a confident individual who has the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of personalities and professional bodies during projects. IT literate and competent, experienced user of general Microsoft Office software. Must have a confident attitude towards the use of technology. Integrate well as a team member and generally possess a flexible attitude to work. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload with flexibility to multi-task. Excellent presentation, report writing and communication skills. Smart appearance and a desire to develop personally along with the Company. A common sense approach to business and Client requirements.
