Senior Ecologist - Hertfordshire

Our client is a well-established Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy who are well known for their designs and executions of environmental projects. They are currently seeking seeking a Senior Ecologist to work out of their office in Hertfordshire.

Services provided include Protected and other species surveys, Vegetation and habitat surveys, Ecological desk studies and scoping exercises, Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitat management. Other areas include Long-term monitoring of habitats and species, BRE Environmental Assessment Method and Biodiversity Benchmark Assessments.

Role responsibilities as a Senior Ecologist will include the co-ordination and supervision of Field and Assistant Ecologists to ensure projects are performed and delivered to the highest possible standard, Field work including Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species work, contributing to the promotion and development of the company's ecological services and mentoring junior team members.

Applicants must have a degree in Ecology. Relevant experience of project management in a consultancy environment is essential along with experience of ecological surveying, impact assessment and mitigation.

Applicants must hold at least one English Nature licence and possess exceptional identification skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required for the role as is CIEEM Membership.

Our client, an Ecological Consultancy who provide a complete range of ecology surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, bat surveys and other protected species surveys for supporting planning applications, biodiversity assessments to support habitat management planning, mitigation solutions, and ecological contracting including animal exclusion fencing, habitat creation and management.They are currently looking for an Ecologist/Senior Ecologist to join their Hertfordshire team. The role will involve a degree of management of the existing ecological staff and the provision of high level technical advice to clients. Other duties will include the management of large ecological projects and survey programmes as well as the production of technical review reports. The successful candidate will also be expected to help grow the ecological capacity of the team through training, recruitment and the establishment of an accredited network of ecological sub-consultants. Applicants must have a degree in Ecology or a closely related subject and have a minimum of 3 years experience of working on ecological projects, preferably within a consultancy environment. Experience of housing, energy or infrastructure projects would be advantageous as would the holding of a protected species license. The ability to project manage, organise and coordinate a team is required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
