Our client, an Ecological Consultancy who provide a complete range of ecology surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, bat surveys and other protected species surveys for supporting planning applications, biodiversity assessments to support habitat management planning, mitigation solutions, and ecological contracting including animal exclusion fencing, habitat creation and management.They are currently looking for an Ecologist/Senior Ecologist to join their Hertfordshire team.
The role will involve a degree of management of the existing ecological staff and the provision of high level technical advice to clients. Other duties will include the management of large ecological projects and survey programmes as well as the production of technical review reports. The successful candidate will also be expected to help grow the ecological capacity of the team through training, recruitment and the establishment of an accredited network of ecological sub-consultants.
Applicants must have a degree in Ecology or a closely related subject and have a minimum of 3 years experience of working on ecological projects, preferably within a consultancy environment. Experience of housing, energy or infrastructure projects would be advantageous as would the holding of a protected species license. The ability to project manage, organise and coordinate a team is required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
