Our client is a Landscape Arboricultural, & Ecological Consultancy. They are currently seeking an experienced senior ecologist to join their small team and undertake and manage a variety of field surveys. The role is based out of their office in Hampshire.

Role Requirements;

-Bat Survey Licence
-Four years' experience in ecological consultancy
-Competent undertaking Phase 1 Habitat Assessment and Protected Species Surveys
-Good knowledge of British flora and fauna
-Good understanding of wildlife legislation and the planning system
-Excellent report writing skills
-Experience of successfully applying for and implementing European Protected Species Mitigation Licences would be particularly desirable
-Full driving licence

They currently require a Senior Ecologist to join and support their Hampshire based team. The role will involve undertaking a wide variety of protected species surveys (birds, amphibians, reptiles, bats, badgers and water voles) as well as botanical surveys along with producing factual and interpretive reports. The successful applicant will also undertake project management activities such as financial aspects, site coordination and health and safety plans and risk assessments. Applicants must have a first degree in Ecology or a closely related subject and a relevant Masters would be an advantage. Experience of working as an Ecologist in a consultancy environment is essential and should have included protected species work, project management responsibilities and relevant document preparation. The role will also involve writing DEFRA applications and recommendations for future action and co-ordinating and supervising Field and Assistant Ecologists to ensure projects are performed and delivered to the highest possible standard. There will also be a large element of field work involved with the role. Applicants must have a first degree in Ecology and a postgraduate degree in a related subject is preferable. Experience of project management in a consultancy environment is essential along with experience of ecological surveying, impact assessment and mitigation. Applicants must hold at least one protected species licence and possess exceptional identification skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required for the role.
