Building Surveyor MRICS

I am working with one of the longest established and fastest growing commercial building consultants with a vast network of offices across the UK. Due to sustained growth and success in the company they are looking to expand their Surveying team in the Greater Manchester region. This client have a good reputation for developing staff and allowing them to progress to senior positions within the company.

I am recruiting for a Building Surveyor in the Rights of Light and Party Wall and Neighbourly matters services team. The role will suit those who have an interest in these areas with a vested interest to gain further experience from their existing team. They are looking for individuals who either have a basic knowledge in this area through to more senior individuals who have dealt with these areas for a number of years.

The type of work would predominantly be commercial, with some residential instructions. Their clients range from listed property and development companies through to individual occupiers, the projects do vary in size and complexity and would be allocated depending on experience.

Building Surveying essential requirements:

Experience in either Rights of Light, Daylight and Sunlight and Party Wall and Neighbourly Matters
Degree educated preferably in a Building Surveying or related field
MRICS (Building Surveying) or working towards APC, experience in commercial property
You must have a can do attitude, be professional, eager to learn and develop.

The role will be to provide support to the activities of the Team, and the Firm, in achieving targeted fee income and will include: - Preparing specifications, tendering and monitoring constructions works on site - Preparing drawings on Auto CAD for projects - Preparing and negotiating schedules of dilapidations - Preparing schedules of condition and assessing claims post works - Residential and commercial stock condition surveys - Party Wall work- Planning and Building Regulation applications - Measured Surveys of Land and Buildings - Project monitoring of new build schemes on behalf of Funders, and prospective Tenants and Purchasers - Preparing feasibility studies and sketch scheme designs for a wide variety of building types - Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules - Professional work as designated according to experience - Assistance with other professional building surveying projects - Providing support for more junior members of the support team - Development of existing Clients - Compliance with Company standards and procedures To be successful in your application you must meet the following criteria: - Qualified Member of the RICS, with minimum 1 years' PQE - Ideally have previous experience within a commercial consultancy - A willingness to undertake local and firm-wide business development initiatives, and increase develop the building consultancy service delivered - Pro-active self-starter with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing - The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure that deadlines are met - The ability to produce clear and concise written reports and recommendations - Building Surveys and Schedules of Condition - Planning and Building Regulations - Experience in the design and refurbishment of buildings and administration of Building Contracts - Defect Analysis - Identifying & analysing building pathology, preparing technical reports - Dilapidation claim experience with ability to read and understand lease covenants - Party Wall work - Experience in health and safety procedures, CDM and DDA - A full driving licence is essential If you don't have the relevant skills required for this particular position please get in contact as we have other Building Surveying and General Practice vacancies throughout the UK from Graduate level to Director/Partner, some of which are not advertised due to the clients request.
