Ecologist - Essex

Our Client is a well-established Ecological Consultancy who concentrate portfolio of projects and work throughout the UK on diverse schemes in a variety of sectors.

Due to increased workload they are looking for and Ecologist to join their team in Essex.

This will be a hands-on role and the successful candidate will gain experience in all aspects of their projects and day to day running of a thriving consultancy.

Job Responsibilities;

-Phase 1 habitat & protected species surveys
-Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Assessments
-Undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA)
-Producing high quality written reports
-Assisting on protected species mitigation schemes
-Liaising with project managers and clients
-Supervising field assistants and coordinating surveys

Our client is leading multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy with expertise in EIA, ecology, heritage, landscape and environmental management. The company are currently expanding and are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their office in Essex. You will have a track record in winning and delivering projects, developing survey and mitigation proposals, and preparing tenders and fee proposals. You will support the Technical Director for Ecology and Regional Manager in technical and general project management duties and business development. You will have experience of delivering statutory EcIAs and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across a range of sectors. Responsibilities: Project management of EIA and non-EIA ecological assessments Production of fee proposals and tenders Maintaining and developing client relationships Support in business planning Mentoring/ line management of junior staff Leading protected species surveys Technical Skills & Experience: Technically competent ecologist with experience in managing and delivering statutory EcIAs Approximately ten years professional experience Bat licence holder preferred - other protected species licenses desirable Excellent communication and report writing skills Experience of obtaining EPS licences Excellent understanding and experience of the EIA process and wildlife and planning legislation and policy You will be educated to graduate level, ideally to MSc level, have full membership of CIEEM and have around ten years previous commercial consultancy experience.
