Ecologist - Essex

Our Client is a Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy located in Essex. They produce strategies, management plans, governance reviews and policies for better management of natural and cultural heritage sites and are currently looking to recruit an Ecologist.

The position will involve the following responsibilities:
-Assisting with and/or managing a range of ecological field surveys, including protected species surveys and extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys
-Undertaking desk studies, literature reviews and data analysis, as well as assisting with preparing reports to a high technical standard and within deadlines
-Assisting in the production of Environmental Impact Assessment documents

The successful candidate will have:

-Field experience
-A relevant Degree
-Legislation knowledge
-Ability to complete species surveys
-Full driving licence

Our client is leading multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy with expertise in EIA, ecology, heritage, landscape and environmental management. The company are currently expanding and are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their office in Essex. You will have a track record in winning and delivering projects, developing survey and mitigation proposals, and preparing tenders and fee proposals. You will support the Technical Director for Ecology and Regional Manager in technical and general project management duties and business development. You will have experience of delivering statutory EcIAs and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across a range of sectors. Responsibilities: Project management of EIA and non-EIA ecological assessments Production of fee proposals and tenders Maintaining and developing client relationships Support in business planning Mentoring/ line management of junior staff Leading protected species surveys Technical Skills & Experience: Technically competent ecologist with experience in managing and delivering statutory EcIAs Approximately ten years professional experience Bat licence holder preferred - other protected species licenses desirable Excellent communication and report writing skills Experience of obtaining EPS licences Excellent understanding and experience of the EIA process and wildlife and planning legislation and policy You will be educated to graduate level, ideally to MSc level, have full membership of CIEEM and have around ten years previous commercial consultancy experience.
