Leading independent Practice of Construction Professionals operates as two complementary divisions Chartered Surveying and Project Management and Chartered Building Consultancy.
There is a vacancy for a Building Surveyor at their head office which consists of a small team of Building Surveyors as part of a wider professional team. To be successful in your application you will need to possess a range of skills and experience across different sectors for both project and professional to complement the existing Surveyors and Project Managers within the department.
This position would suit a Chartered Building Surveyor with at least 3 to 5 years relevant working experience, or a non-Chartered Building Surveyor with more extensive experience and the ability to work autonomously whilst also supporting/directing others.
The successful candidate will be a key member of staff and must have a confident, hands on approach in order to be a reliable contributor in the Building Surveying Team. They must also be conscientious in their work, have attention to detail and provide work with high standards of presentation. It is also important for the successful candidate to have a friendly personality and be attentive to Clients expectations and needs.
Whilst there will be an opportunity to undertake all aspects of Building Surveying including Professional work such as party wall surveying, dilapidations, insurance reimbursement cost assessments and occasionally acquisition surveys, the primary focus will be to competently prepare tender documents, run projects as Contracts Administrator or Employers Agent, undertake feasibility reports and cost estimates for refurbishments and alteration projects, and undertake surveys and reports for defect diagnosis and planned maintenance condition surveys.
It is essential that the successful candidate understands the administrative requirements of the JCT Intermediate and JCT Design and Build contracts and is disciplined with timely issue of documentation and keeping filing up to date in accordance with the Company's QA systems.
The successful candidate must also have a good understanding of construction and building pathology.

- Condition survey reports for asset expenditure planning
- Preparing tender documents for refurbishment and alteration works, including specifications and schedules
- Advising surveying team on buildability and design implications i.e. Building Regulation requirements, etc.
- Site surveys and reporting (Schedules of Condition, Defect Diagnosis, etc.)
- Building survey/Acquisition reports (non-residential)
- Dilapidations & licence to alteration advice (not essential)
- Party Wall Surveying (not essential)
- Driving licence and car essential with business use insurance
- Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary in the region of £35k to £55k depending on experience and qualification with a generous benefits package. Including a holiday allowance of 22 days including Christmas, expenses paid, RICS Subscription paid and workplace pension.
