Senior Structural Engineer - London

Our clients are a specialist testing, inspection and monitoring company providing on site structural testing and monitoring for complex civil engineering and demolition projects. As they continue to expand, they are currently looking to recruit an experienced Structural Engineer to join their London office.

The role:
They are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with a minimum of 6 years' on site experience to join their growing team. You will be expected to work both autonomously and as part of a team where you will be responsible for managing certain projects from enquiry through to completion. You will be responsible for managing the site-based team carrying out testing and inspections. The role will be predominately office based in Central London but attending site visits and client meetings on various site across London and the Home Counties when necessary.

Responsibilities will include:
- Planning the day to day activities of the site teams
- Planning and scheduling the work and allocating resources
- Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
- Managing small projects from start to finish
- Preparing tenders and quotations for works
- Preparing technical documents including method statements and reports
- Quality control of work and ensuring works done are in line with UKAS accreditation
- Liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including designers and sub-contractors
- Managing budgets and project resources
- Scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries
- Business development
- Carrying our structural investigations and producing details technical reports

- BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering (or similar relevant degree)
- Minimum of 6 years' on site experience in construction, civil engineering or demolition
- Able to write and check technical method statements and reports
- Commercially aware and able to prepare quotations for work
- Project and budget management skills
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation
- Comfortable liaising with clients
- Strong IT skills
- In depth knowledge of concrete, steel, masonry structures and construction materials
- Experience managing projects from inception through to completion
- Full UK drivers licence
