Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Surrey

Our clients are one a leading Geotechnical & Geo-Environmental consultancy with offices based throughout the UK. As they continue to expand, they are now looking to recruit a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Surrey.

The role:
They are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team working on a wide range of projects throughout the South East. Responsibilities to include (but not limited to):

- Conducting informed basement impact assessments
- Ground movement assessments
- Slope stability assessments, which includes damage prediction of buildings and infrastructure (utilities, roads, rail tracks and tunnels), using the analysis software SLOPE
- Retaining wall analysis and design with a competent use of design software WALLAP
- Assistance with foundation and temporary works design
- Tender summary reviews
- Determination of parameters for design from in-situ and laboratory test data
- Geotechnical and geo-environmental report writing, factual and interpretative
- Competent use of logging software including GiNT
- Hydrogeological Assessments
- Historic data collection, review and preparation of geotechnical and geo-environmental desk studies
- Soil contamination and soil gas assessment
- Supervision of environmental and geotechnical site investigations in accordance with BS5930 amendment 2, BS10175 and other relevant current good practice
- Competent soil and rock logging with descriptions in accordance with Eurocode 7 and BS5930

- BSc or equivalent in Geology, Environmental Science or similar
- Relevant MSc is preferred but not essential
- Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status
- Competent in the use of Eurocode design including piling, piled walls, foundations, temporary works, soil nails, ground anchors and the planning, implementation and interpretation of site investigations
- experience in delivering design engineering solutions, drawings and specifications including slope stability, earthworks, basements, deep excavations and/or retaining structures
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Knowledge of geo-environmental engineering and its interaction with geotechnical design would be advantageous
