Lead Water Treatment Engineer

Our client is a leading provider of bespoke Water & Air Hygiene services across the UK that have a requirement for an experienced Senior Water Treatment Engineer based in Essex.

As a Senior Water Treatment Engineer your duties will include

Assist HR with the recruitment of new engineers and shadow, mentor and train them on inhouse systems
Work in partnership with Service Delivery to ensure engineers induction checklist is fully completed and signed off after one month
Ensure engineers are audited and spot checked at least every six months
Support Compliance team as and when required for annual audits and spot checks of engineers
Lead by example ensuring all reports and paperwork, including site specific risk assessments are completed on time and accurate
Assist Service Delivery with specific details for site specific RAMs
Attend weekly ops meeting (By phone if cannot attend in person) and ensure any actions listed in the minutes are complete
Attend Quarterly H&S meetings
Work in partnership with Service Delivery to ensure all engineers provide paperwork and reports on time
Ensure completion of first site visits as and when required, ensuring appropriate paperwork completed
Ensure weekend rota / on call is equally covered across all Senior Engineers.
Assist Business Unit Managers/Director with six month appraisals

Skills and Experience Required to undertake the Lead Water Treatment Engineers role
Substantial experience in Water Hygiene / Legionella control industry
Understanding of water treatment plant (Cooling Towers, Water softeners, Dosage & control equipment)
Cleaning and disinfection of water storage tanks and replacing or relining water tanks
In depth understanding of the ACoP L8 and HSG274
Excellent record keeping and attention to detail
Full current UK driving Licence

Desirable Skills and Experience:
Plumbing qualification min NVQ2 or equivalent
Experience in installing and servicing thermostatic mixer valves, repairing or replacing water heaters, removing redundant pipework or other unwanted water services, insulating water storage tanks and associated pipe work, reconfiguring pipe work, completing water tank upgrades (e.g. installing insect screens and tank breathers), installing / replacing valves,

We are currently on a recruitment drive for a leading independent Air & Water Hygiene Specialist. The company provide services within Water Hygiene (Legionella Risk Assessments), Water Treatment (Pre- Commission Chemical Cleaning and Servicing of Cooling Towers and Boilers) along with Air Hygiene Surveys. They are now recruiting for a Water Hygiene Engineer to cover work in London and the South East Duties of a Water Hygiene Engineer Good understanding and a proven track record of working to ACOP L8. Experience of chemical analysis and sampling, submitting them to labs. Cleaning and disinfecting of CWST's. Temperature monitoring. Shower head cleaning and disinfection. Understanding of schematic drawings of hot and cold water systems, cold water storage tank inspections. Carrying out Legionella Risk Assessments as necessary. Monitoring and recording data in periodic log books. Working in confined spaces and working at height. Minimum of 2 years' experience in the Water Treatment industry. Plumbing qualification would be advantageous but not essential. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal. Ability to work to own initiative. Excellent record keeping and attention to detail. Will be an all-rounder, motivated, flexible, have good attitude and a willingness to travel. Full current UK driving Licence.
