Our client is an established Environmental Consultancy that is now seeking to recruit a Consultant Ecologist to join their team in Hampshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks associated with the delivery of project work including but not limited to the following:
Compilation of desk studies and literature reviews;
Basic Phase 1 Habitat surveying;
Protected Species surveying (incl. bats, badger, otter, water vole etc.);
Preparation of survey reports;
Contribution to Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs);
Preparation of fee proposals and survey methods; and
Supporting office management and administrative tasks.
You will be confident and comfortable working as part of a team or on your own, sometimes on remote sites.
You will have a relevant degree in ecology or a related discipline and will hold at least one protected species licence. Ideally you will have a minimum of three years Ecology Consultancy experience carrying out Phase 1 Habitat Survey and protected species surveying. You will be a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and familiar with its Code of Professional Conduct and Competency Framework. A full driving licence is required and ideally some knowledge of GIS would be advantageous.

This role would involve undertaking a range of ecological surveys (especially bat surveys), desk studies and related admin, and report writing for planning applications and developments
Requirements:
-2:1 or higher degree in ecology or related subject and good report writing skills;
-Driving licence and car you can use for work purposes;
-Prepared to be flexible over travel and hours - overnight stays and late night/early morning survey visits required, especially during April to September period;
-Business-like, polite and professional manner for liaising with other team members, clients and suppliers;
-Experience and evidence of having been trained in visually checking buildings and trees for potential bat roosts, and working towards a bat survey licence;
-Experience of dusk/dawn bat surveys and bat analysis, especially using Analook, BatScan and BatSound.
Desirable:
Natural England bat survey licence;
Experience of working in business outside of ecological consultancy;
Great Crested Newt, reptile and other protected species survey experience;
Natural England Great Crested Newt survey licence.
