Our client are a growing Ecological Consultancy who are now seeking to recruit an Experienced Ecologist who is location in Sussex.
To help manage projects, complete a range of surveys, write a range of reports, licence applications and other related written elements. Experience and demonstrable competence surveying herpetofauna, mammals and botany would be essential, other areas of specialism such as ornithology or EIA production would be viewed as beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least one degree in Ecology or a related field would be minimum qualification criteria
-At least 4 years of Ecological Consultancy experience (or a much longer term of experience for non-consultancy backgrounds)
-A Natural England survey licences for at least one protected group or species, potentially with experience of applying for mitigation licences
-Have or be eligible to apply for full CIEEM Membership
-Have GIS and/or AutoCAD mapping experience
-Will be able to manage multiple ecological projects simultaneously and to have botanical survey ability sufficient to complete Phase 1 Habitat Surveys of a range of habitats
-You must have a proven track record in Ecological Consultancy, confident taking the lead on surveys and managing projects, yet modest enough to provide assistance to colleagues at any grade whenever this is needed.
-You must have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle

Main duties will include the following:

In addition, the role will require effective communication with a variety of stakeholders as well as some business development and financial awareness (with support from the team leader as required).
Strong competency in Extended Phase 1 Habitat is a minimum requirement for this post, with experience in European Protected Species being a distinct advantage. Applications from those with survey and handling licences for EPS's and a working knowledge of licence applications and mitigation design are encouraged. In addition, experience of Environmental Statements and EcIA chapters would also be beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
-Relevant degree as a minimum
-Further qualifications and membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEEM) desirable
