Due to business growth and a series of successful planning developments, our client is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Planner to join their Tyne and Wear-based team.
The Assistant Town Planner will work alongside a highly experienced professional on a broad range of projects including areas within the renewable energy sector. Other projects include commercial, mixed-use and industrial developments and will vary in size and complexity.
A focused and professional applicant is required for this role, with at least one years' post qualification experience. This experience need not be specific but an interest in energy would be advantageous. The ideal Planner will be RTPI accredited or will be working towards chartered status as a minimum. An excellent academic background is essential and qualifications should be RTPI accredited, including a masters in a relevant planning discipline.

They are now looking to recruit a Senior Ecologist with consultancy experience to join their team in Tyne and Wear. The position provides the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting and typically high profile projects throughout the UK.
Senior Ecologist duties will involve the following:
Leading and delivering ecological project work such as: protected species and habitat surveys
Appraisals and impact assessments for development proposals; biodiversity planning strategies; ecological management plans; and green infrastructure design advice
Candidates must have the ability to communicate ecological principles and concepts to a range of technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, design teams and other consultants.
The successful Senior Ecologist will be able to demonstrate:
Appropriate degree level qualifications
Minimum 3 years' relevant experience that has included mentoring ecologists in more junior roles
A comprehensive understanding of nationally recognised best practice survey and evaluation methodologies for a full range of UK species and habitats
Specialist scientific knowledge/identification skills in relation to at least one UK species/group (preferably botany and/or one of the invertebrate groups)
Knowledge and experience of preparing and writing Ecological Impact Assessments
Excellent analytical, report writing and IT skills
Good organisational abilities of own as well as other's workloads
Full driving licence and car ownership

Our clients are a leading international geoscience and geotechnical engineering consultancy working primarily in the offshore oil, gas, and renewable energy industries. Following increasing growth and workload, they are currently looking to expand their Geotechnical team by recruiting a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Newcastle.
As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you will be performing geotechnical engineering studies under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. Some projects may require offshore or onshore assistance on site. The projects may involve:
-Geotechnical assessment and design of offshore and onshore structures from FEED to detailed stages
-Geoscience consultancy and reporting for windfarms and oil and gas developments, survey design and management of geotechnical investigations, including advanced in situ and laboratory testing, large offshore campaigns, cable routes, onshore and nearshore developments
-Offshore and onshore cable and pipeline engineering, including burial risk assessments, burial assessments, performance analysis, forensic studies and tool modelling
-Ground modelling, cable route analysis, geohazard assessments etc.
-Pile driving instrumentation and monitoring services for the offshore and onshore industry, including back analysis of pile capacities, fatigue, capacity assessments and support to certification process
-Contribute to research and development initiatives, participate in international conferences and prepare technical papers
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (or similar) plus ideally a MSc in a geoscience/geotechnical related subject
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Any previous relevant experience would be beneficial
- Full UK drivers licence
