The Assistant Ecologist will:
Work with other ecologists undertaking surveys for a range of protected species in particular GCNs, bats and reptiles
Get the opportunity to assist more senior staff on surveys for other species, such as badger, water vole and otter
Complete and assist on Extended Phase 1 Habitat and Hedgerow surveys
Be primarily field based but have the opportunity to undertake office based work, including desk studies; writing basic survey reports and producing supporting plans
The Assistant Ecologist will require:
An ecological/environmental related degree
Some kind of field work experience
Preferably CIEEM membership or have eligibility
Full driving licence

The candidate will be involved in all areas of work with emphasis on protected species, in particular bat surveys and assessment. This will include building and tree assessments, emergence, re-entry and activity surveys, data analysis, interpretation of findings to make appropriate recommendations including bat EPSM license applications and their implementation.
